25 Years of FJL Microsystems We have been computer consultancy services continuously since 1981, during which time we have changed along with the whole computing industry. In the late 1970's personal computers (known as microcomputers) were often built to order using silicon chips, wire and a soldering iron. That's how we started. Back then computers were expected to work - no ifs or buts. Everything was designed and built or programmed by an expert; there were no technicians, customer call centre representatives. No "IT Professionals"; just engineers. We still think like this. It will come as no surprise to learn that our specialty has traditionally been in high-reliability systems such at air-traffic control, security, industrial control and vehicle electronics.  However, in the last ten years or so we have been asked to work on more and more business computers. By applying the same rigorous engineering techniques to business systems, clients have enjoyed long-term commercial safety and stability.
