Year-2000 Message |
This is the FJL Microsystems Year-2000 message. Please note that it is not a statement or a disclosure and has nothing to do with any daft American act (of which, arguably, there are many). It can't be relied on for any reason whatsoever by anyone. However, we hope it'll stop you from sending us those silly ten-page questionnaires that we just chuck in the bin anyway. Did you really think we'd be daft enough to sign them?
The world might end on 1st January 2000. Fortunately there is a good side to this - it won't be coming to an end because of any FJL Microsystems's products or services. If you're having a bad day, it won't be our fault.
We've checked and tested everything we've ever produced and can't find anything wrong with it. In fact, most stuff doesn't handle dates at all so there is nothing to test. However, if you're computer goes wrong and gives one of our systems a bad date then it'll obviously get the date wrong too. You'd better go and check your computer's idea of the time if you're worried.
We're also contacting our suppliers. They might tell us something useful but chances are they won't. We have plenty of suppliers, most of which are good, some of which are complete idiots. This is unlikely to change when the calendar does.
As for our own internal infrastructure, accounting systems and telecommunications links - you'd better believe we've tested them in every way possible and they're all fine. Our accounting system is particularly fine, and it is guaranteed to issue invoices for anything you may have purchased pre-apocalypse. This is about the only guarantee we're prepared to make concerning the year-2000 - you will be invoiced. Even if our accounting system does fail due to the national grid collapsing, we'll write out the invoice by hand and have it delivered by courier.
That's about it. To summarise, there are no guarantees whatsoever apart from the bit about collecting our money. And if the world still exists on 4th January 2000 we look forward to your continued custom.
