So who is this Frank Leonhardt person? |
I am an independent technology consultant, writer and trouble-shooter. 'Independent' means I have no trading links with any supplier, never supply goods or services other than my time and advice, and never accept commission or other inducements from any suppliers I recommend to clients.
Technology means anything from telephones to navigation aids, taking in most forms of microprocessor electronics along the way (like computers). I deal with how technology works, where it's going and how you can apply it to your own ends.
If your problems are of a more practical nature, I've quite handy with small computer software and hardware development, LAN Systems, PC hardware, PC operating systems (DOS, Windows 2.0, 3.xx, 95, NT, OS/2 and Novell) and security/high reliability applications.
Small computer hardware and software development during the 1980's, turned to writing and pure consultancy work for the 1990's. Here follows a two-yearly snapshot (this is not intended as a full resume).
1983 Vicom 2 for the Apple - Integrated text and Viewdata intelligent terminal emulation.
1985 Several packages developed under the GEM GUI (before Windows!) including communications, spreadsheet, word processor, backup software and other utilities.
1987 Project Managed Infodex, an early free-text retrieval system for publishing on CD-ROM (before multimedia was thought of).
1989 Published Time-Out guides on disk (before the market was ready, but what the heck).
1991 First Technical Editor for Personal Computer World Magazine
1993 Assorted consultancy work, lecturing and writing.
1995 A lot of stuff with the Civil Aviation Authority. Mainly politics. Lots more writing.
1997 Working mainly on behalf of various clients with projects involving Internet and CD-ROM publishing, specialist communications. A lot more writing, seminars etc.
1999 I'm pretty much full-time on embedded processors and their development systems for a large international maker of embedded processors. Sometime I get to play with them too, particularly with regard to automotive applications, but also a lot of QA policy work, committees and non-nerdy stuff.
Anyone seriously wishing to hire my services is encouraged to telephone for detailed information. I am currently a full member of the Association of Professional Computer Consultants (APCC).
Scouter, 2nd Amersham Common
Aviation (PPL (A))
Sailing and miscellaneous water-sports (RYA Instructor)
Photography (still and cine - not Video! Humbug!)
Small furry mammals (especially Peruvian Guinea Pigs)
For writing and lecturing I charge the usual word or day rate (seminar organisers and editors will know what these are). Technical problem resolution, strategic advice, virus hunts and technology development project work are charged at the same sort of rates as an established accountant would.
Non-profit organisations and private computer users who manage to get me on the 'phone while I'm not too busy are rarely charged but have to put up with my constrained spare time.
