THE AROUND BRITAIN CHALLENGE

In the Summer of 1997, The York Flying Club will be embarking on an attempt to fly microlight aircraft around the entire coastline of mainland U.K., a distance of approximately 2,000 miles.

Our objectives are:

As the event Co-ordinator, I am enlisting support from clubs like yourselves, who may be able to help our enterprise in any way. Also I would like invite your members to fly with us on some of the legs of our route.

We are allowing two full weeks in July/August (exact dates to be announced) to complete the course.

As this is a fun event, the rules are very few:-

  1. The course must be flown in a microlight aircraft.
  2. The U.K. coastline shall be to the left of track at all times, (except for re-fuelling/over night stops etc). The direction of the course is anti-clockwise.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you can assist us to make this event a great success.

Yours sincerely

Andy Malham
