Odd Historical Notes

This page will contain notes on family history from whoever sends them in.

If we all do it, with any luck it'll all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Our family came over from Germany in the early 1900's. They settled in Nebraska USA. As far as I know my great grandfather's brother stayed in Germany and wasn't ever heard from. My grandfather and his bother farmed in Nebraska. The rest of the family, my father and his brothers and sisters, are living in different areas of the USA. If you need names of the older family members or the towns in Germany that they came from I can try to find out. I am a log truck driver here in the mountains of Montana.

My great grandfather emigrated [to the USA] in 1890.

He had three sons and those three sons had four sons among them. Their four sons had eight sons and two daughters. The great grandchildren have two sons, six daughters, and one baby on the way so there with wives and children. There are lots of Leonhardts in our family.

Also, of note, there are apparently many, many Mormon Leonhardts. In the eastern US, you may see 1-4 people listed in an average telephone book if at all. In Utah, there are a couple of pages of us. I found that fascinating.

Brewing in Minnesota, USA

There was a Leonhardt involved in two breweries in Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota, USA. The beweries were called Leonhardt & Roetger (which closed in 1895) and Ehrhardt & Leonhardt (closed 1902).
